Yorkshire 3 Peaks · 11 April 2026

Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the leading charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

At the age of 37, our eldest Son James suffered a severe stroke, resulting in emergency life-saving surgery to remove part of his skull, in order to locate and remove a huge bleed on his brain. This stroke left him paralysed down his left side. His ongoing recovery is only possible thanks to the rehabilitation and care of Stroke Teams both in hospital and at home.

Our youngest Son Mark and I, joined by fellow Rainsford Contracts Ltd work colleagues Paul Dennis and Craig Lewis, will be taking on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge on 11th April, raising much-needed funds for The Stroke Association, to help other families affected by this condition. The work they do to assist patients and their families is incredible.

When stroke strikes, part of your brain shuts down. And so does a part of you. Life changes instantly and recovery is tough. But the brain can adapt. Our specialist support, research and campaigning are only possible with the courage and determination of the stroke community. With more donations and support from you, we can rebuild even more lives.
