Chasing Yesterday Marathons for NACOA - Helping children of alcoholics

Ian Stringer is raising money for The National Association For Children Of Alcoholics

Chasing Yesterday Marathons · 26 July 2026

1 in 5 children in the UK are affected by their parents' alcohol problems. They are often frightened and isolated, with no one to turn to for help. Nacoa responds by providing a free, confidential telephone, 1-2-1 chat and email helpline.

Story

We can’t go back and save our younger selves.

But we’re going back in time to try and help fellow children of alcoholics.

5 of us, all children of alcoholics, will run a marathon in American Samoa, instantly fly 100 miles west to Western Samoa - back across the international date line where it will be yesterday - and run another marathon. Running the second one before we’ve run the first.

Sunday 26th July - Marathon 1

Saturday 25th July - Marathon 2
