Chawton Park IBC fundraiser for Abby's Heroes

James Shillingford is raising money for Abby's Heroes

Brave the shave · 20 November 2026

We work alongside the Piam Brown Ward and Teenage and Young Adult Unit at Southampton General Hospital, who support children and young adults diagnosed with cancer, and their families, from across the South Coast. We offer practical, financial and memory making grants to these families.

Story

I am writing to you on behalf of Chawton Park Indoor Bowls Club to ask for your kind support for an incredibly important fundraising campaign. We are rallying together as a community to raise vital funds in aid of a brave young member of our club, Oskar, who has recently been diagnosed with acute leukaemia.

Oskar is currently undergoing intensive treatment in the Teenage and Young Adult ward at Southampton General Hospital.

To support Oskar and the incredible organisations helping him through this battle, our club is hosting two major fundraising events. All proceeds will be split evenly between two exceptional charities that provide lifeline support to young cancer patients and their families: Abby's Heroes and the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Our Upcoming Fundraising Events:

'Brave the Shave' Event: Friday 20th November 2026

The following members of the club are going to "Brave The Shave" - Leo May, Aki Atkins, Eric Phillips, Graham Sampson, Reece Graham (body wax) and James Shillingford.

24-Hour Bowlathon: Starting Friday 18th December 2026

More info to come out for this as we already know many will want to participate and take part in the challenge, keep an eye on the clubs social media pages.

Thank you so much for your time, consideration, and community spirit. Together, we can make a real difference for Oskar.

Yours faithfully,

The Fundraising Committee
