🚂 Pulling for a Purpose – Alstom Takes on the Steam Train Challenge
On 1st July, my team of 10+ colleagues based in Reading, supported by colleagues from GWR will be taking on an extraordinary physical challenge at the Didcot Railway Centre — pulling a 25‑tonne Trojan 1340 steam train as far as we possibly can within a one‑hour time limit.
Yes… 25 tonnes. By hand.
This will be a demanding test of teamwork, strength, determination, and endurance — and we’re doing it all to raise vital funds for Variety, the Children’s Charity.
💛 Why We’re Fundraising
Variety specialise in funding life‑changing programmes and equipment that help children and young people across the UK who are facing disability, illness, or disadvantage. Their work gives children greater independence, brighter opportunities, and a better future — and every donation truly makes a difference.
🤝 With Special Thanks
We are very kindly being supported by Alec’s Angels, who are providing the specialist lifting equipment required to make this incredible challenge possible.
💪 How You Can Help
This will be an extremely tough physical challenge, and your support will push us to go further when it really counts.
Every donation — big or small — is massively appreciated and will help Variety continue their amazing work supporting children and young people across the UK.
Thank you so much for your generosity, encouragement, and support — we’ll be pulling with everything we’ve got!
