Story
The Murray and Patel clans invite you to be part of Rachel’s legacy. Help us transform her premature death into something beautiful, meaningful and life-changing. She adored all children, especially babies but always talked about how society sometimes treats teenagers badly.
So, we think she’d get a kick out of Teenager Cancer Trust (TCT). Teenagers fall between the cracks in our NHS system - not allowed in dedicated children’s wards and treated as fully fledged adults instead if they have cancer. Anyone who has interacted with a teenager will know they’re not fully fledged adults - despite their general bravado and desire to be seen as one. TCT builds specialist wards just for teenagers who have cancer and their families. They have dedicated staff who understand how to help teenagers and their families cope with a disease which we all know to be horrific. But one which also robs them of what’s meant to be the best years of their lives and certainly most important in terms of discovering who they are and their place in the world. And that’s just for the “lucky” ones who survive. The impact of the loss of those who do not on their family and friends is truly awful.
Both children and adult cancer charities are relatively well-funded. TCT much less so. And yet it has the potential to be transformative with relatively small donations. As well as donating, I will be getting my hands dirty and helping and assisting TCT wherever I can. I will be looking to rope some of you in with specific projects where I know you have skills, experience and networks that TCT does not. If you are interested in helping beyond donating, in whatever small way you can, please get in touch with me.
I will be keeping you posted with updates on progress with building this legacy for Rachel and on our on-going progress with TCT too.
In the meantime, a massive thank you from all of us for donating!
All our love,
The Murray & Patel clans.
