We fund research into childhood cancer to save and improve young lives

Story

On 9th February 2024, one of the most beautiful souls I have ever known lost his life way too soon.

At only 15 years old, Aiden’s life tragically ended after a battle with a bone Cancer, named osteosarcoma.

There are no words that can truly explain the impact that Aiden had on those around him - but I can say he was amazing, hilarious, caring & a special young man.

I was so lucky to have known him & will treasure our memories forever.

Quite often, when you work in a school, the children teach you things - and Aiden taught me the importance of unapologetically being yourself & making others smile.

5 days after losing Aiden, I had an email to say I was successful in a ballot to run the Royal Parks Half Marathon in October. So I asked Aiden’s mum, Kerry, if she was OK with me dedicating the race to him.

Aiden’s Mum has chosen the charity Children With Cancer as funds raised go directly to children with cancer - but also funds research into osteosarcoma. Kerry says it’s one of the cancers they know least about and maybe one day they will find a cure - so nobody else has to lose their child.

Children with Cancer:

Our vision is a world where every child and young person survives cancer.

For 35 years, Children with Cancer UK has funded much needed research into the causes of childhood cancers, and the development of better, kinder treatments as well as funding initiatives that support children and their families through cancer treatment and beyond.

Our work has contributed significantly to a marked increase in childhood cancer survival rates and improved quality of life for patients.

About the charity
