We share our lives with cats. They bring happiness to millions of us every day. Yet too many cats don’t get the care and kindness they deserve. At Cats Protection we stand up for every cat to make life better for cats and the people who care for them.

Story

At the Cheltenham and Tewkesbury Branch of Cats Protection, we’re incredibly proud of three amazing ladies—long-time volunteer fosterer and cat-mum Teresa, along with her friends Ella and Jane—who are taking on a 5K inflatable obstacle run to raise funds in memory of a very special cat: Amber.

Over the past four years, our dedicated volunteer Teresa and her husband Andrew have fostered more than 70 cats and kittens through the branch. Like many fosterers, they’ve had a few “foster fails”—those special cats they simply couldn’t part with. One of them was Amber, a beautiful tortoiseshell who came to us with her sister Lexi from a multi-cat household in very poor condition. Both needed medical care and lots of love, and they certainly found it in their foster home.

Amber quickly became part of the family and spent two wonderful years being loved and pampered, until she heartbreakingly passed away just days ago. Her sudden loss has left a huge hole in their hearts, but they wouldn't trade those years with her for anything.

In a beautiful twist of fate, on the same day Amber crossed the rainbow bridge, they took in five tiny foster kittens in need of urgent care. Despite their grief, there was no hesitation—they opened their hearts once again.

The 5K inflatable obstacle run, originally planned for fun, has now taken on new meaning: it's being completed in Amber’s honour, to raise vital funds to help more cats and kittens get the second chance she had. Though her life was short, Amber knew a level of love and care that many less fortunate cats never experience.

Please support these incredible ladies if you can. Every donation helps us continue our work, giving cats like Amber the love-filled lives they deserve.
