In May, myself and 3 friends are climbing Ben Nevis to raise funds for The Leanne Pero Foundation. This incredible charity offers vital support, information and advice, for women of colour cancer patients and survivors.

They deliver bespoke projects, such as Black Women Rising, that provide a platform for cancer patients, and survivors to come forward for support. They strongly feel that no-one must suffer in silence or feel isolated when faced with their personal cancer journey.

Olivia, my friend joining us on the climb, is Head of Operations at The Leanne Pero Foundation and witnesses first hand the impact their services have and the safe community that the charity offers.

Regrettably, mortality rates for people of colour cancer patients are far higher than patients from white backgrounds. This is driven by many factors such as health inequities, lack of representation, late diagnosis, refusal of treatment, not understanding the symptoms and a culture of fear.

We really appreciate any small donation during these challenging times. A small amount truly goes a long way.
