My Battle with Cancer: A Journey of Hope and Support

When I was diagnosed with lung cancer, my world turned upside down. The road ahead seemed long and daunting, but I was determined to face it with courage. My journey through treatment was filled with countless challenges, including major surgery (lobectomy - half left lung removed) but it was the incredible support I received from friends & family along with the Stevenage Macmillan Centre that made all the difference.

From the moment I walked through their doors, I was met with kindness and compassion. The staff at the centre became my lifeline, offering not only me but every cancer patient in their care, emotional support and hope. Their unwavering dedication helped me find strength on my darkest days. The chemotherapy chairs I sat in became a place where I found comfort, surrounded by people and fellow brave fighters who genuinely cared about our well-being.

Now, as I stand on the other side of my battle, I am determined to give back to the centre that gave me so much. To help the Stevenage Macmillan Centre continue their incredible work, I am raising £2000 to buy new chemotherapy chairs, ensuring that others can receive the same comfort and care I did.

To achieve this, I will be running the London 10k with my wife Cheryl and 4 of our 5 children Freya, Aiden, Harry and Oscar ♥️ #familyteam Also long standing family friend will be joining us :)

The charity supports the four hospitals within the East and North Hertfordshire Trust - Lister Hospital, New QEII, Hertford County and Mount Vernon Cancer Centre - helping them go above and beyond for patients, their families and visitors. The charity funds new specialist equipment, extra staff training, research and projects to enhance patient experience.
