Story
Hi everyone!
I’m Cheryl Harvey and in November, I’ll be taking on my biggest challenge yet - trekking 68 miles across Cambodia to Angkor Wat to raise £5,000 for Promise Dreams, a charity dedicated to bringing joy to seriously and terminally ill children. Whether it’s a once-in-a-lifetime holiday, meeting their hero, or receiving essential specialist equipment, Promise Dreams creates precious memories for children and their families during unimaginably difficult times.
Each of us know someone who has been in this situation, for me it was Max, the son of a family friend. He was diagnosed with neuroblastoma at the age of 3 and fought bravely for 7 years. We have followed his journey through so many tests, surgeries, long hospital stays both home and abroad and endless rounds of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Max sadly lost his battle at the start of 2025. One of the highlights of his life for him and his mom was a trip to Peppa Pig world which was organised by a charity like Promise Dreams.
This trek will take me off the beaten track, through rice paddies, farmlands and remote villages and will be made a lot more challenging by the heat and humidity and constantly changing weather conditions as well as the very different food and culture and the lack of basic amenities. It will be tough, but every step will be worth it, knowing I’m helping to bring joy to these incredible children.
I would be so grateful for any donation, big or small, to help me reach my £5,000 goal. Every pound raised will go directly towards making dreams come true for children who need it most.
Thank you so much for your support! ❤️
