Cheryl Carter is raising money for Motor Neurone Disease Association
In memory of Robert Whotton and Kenneth Thomas

Abseil at the Trafford Centre · 27 June 2026

Motor Neurone Disease moves fast. It takes away time, it takes away independence and it has no cure. Every day we support people affected by MND. We fund ground-breaking research. We campaign for better care. We’re here for everyone who needs us. Because with MND, every day matters.

Story

Thanks for visiting our JustGiving page.

We are fundraising in memory of Mike's Dad, Kenneth, and Valerie's husband, Robert, who was also Cheryl's Dad. We watched these strong men disappear before our eyes because of this terrible illness.

Motor neurone disease (MND) affects the nerves (motor neurones) in the brain and spinal cord that tell your muscles what to do. With MND, messages from these nerves gradually stop reaching the muscles, leading them to weaken, stiffen and waste. MND can affect how you walk, talk, eat, drink and breathe. Some people also experience changes to their thinking and behaviour.

We are supporting The Manchester & District Branch of the MND Association. Please sponsor us on here and your money will help change the lives of people affected by motor neurone disease.

JustGiving will send your donation directly to the MND Association.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and secure – your details are safe, they’ll never sell them or send unwanted emails.

Every penny you donate matters.
