Chris and Clare were two of those rare people who, if you knew them, you loved them. Chris was effortlessly funny, wonderfully laid-back and a true gentleman, while Clare had the incredible ability to make everyone feel instantly at home, with the warmest smile and a kindness that meant she could never do enough for those around her. Their loss has been truly unimaginable. Within just two months of one another, both Chris and Clare sadly lost their battles with cancer, despite fighting with incredible bravery and strength. They were never meant to be apart, and in the most heartbreaking way, even this has shown just how inseparable they were.

During their final weeks, both Chris and Clare were cared for by Rennie Grove Peace Hospice, whose support was invaluable to them and to us as a family. The compassion, dignity and kindness they showed was beyond anything we could have asked for, providing comfort not only to Chris and Clare, but also to all of us during an incredibly difficult time. Rennie Grove Peace relies heavily on charitable donations, with only around 14% of its work funded by the government, making fundraising more important than ever.

We are taking part in the Chilterns 3 Peaks challenge - raising money in memory of Chris and Clare, to help ensure that other families facing the unimaginable can receive the same exceptional care, compassion and support that meant so much to ours. There are simply no words to describe the size of the loss they have left behind, especially for Max who has lost both parents in such a short space of time, but we hope that by turning some of our heartbreak into something positive we can help Rennie Grove Peace continue the incredible work they do for others. Chris and Clare touched the lives of so many people, and we hope this fundraiser can be a small but lasting tribute to two truly wonderful people who will be loved and missed forever 🤍
