Story
When completing an online qualifications in the midst of Covid, I discovered I had Dyslexia. This was only because my tutor at the time had received training on how to spot dyslexic / neuro-diverse traits in written language. Finding out as an adult after completing education was really gutting for me as I'd always felt it was my fault that I struggled with my written language and if I'd of known at a younger age then I believe my experience with schooling would have been a much more positive one.
1 in 7 people in the UK are Neuro-diverse with 50% of those not being aware. It's so important for teachers to receive the right training in how to spot dyslexia but also how to support students too.
It's really important for workplaces to understand the reasonable adjustments that they can put in place to help and support staff and to help them grow as well as being understanding for how a neuro-diverse person works.
Made by Dyslexia, offer a free test which helps to indicate whether you could be dyslexic, this was a tool I used when it was first mentioned to me before going to get a formal confirmation.
So with that in mind myself and Luke will be doing a 10K mud run in July to raise money for Made By Dyslexia.
