Running for Wild Welfare!

Chloe Carroll is raising money for Wild Welfare

Semi de Paris 2026 · 8 March 2026 ·

Wild Welfare is a global organisation committed to improving animal welfare for captive wild animals. By working together with animal welfare organisations and captive wildlife facilities, including zoos, aquariums and sanctuaries, we achieve long-term and sustainable solutions to the most critical issues facing wild animals in captivity. Our vision is a world where every captive wild animal is able to thrive and live a good life. Founded in 2012, Wild Welfare is a UK registered charity working globally to improve welfare for wild animals living in captivity. We are the first captive wild animal charity that is solely focused on improving welfare standards by uniting animal welfare NGOs and captive wildlife facilities around the world. Our projects help wild animals living in poor conditions in captivity. Using our knowledge and experience we build constructive relationships with animal welfare organisations, captive wildlife facilities and local communities, ensuring changes can be made to improve animal welfare.

Story

March 8th I'm going to be running the Paris half marathon to raise funds and awareness for Wild Welfare.

In an ideal world, we wouldn't have captive animals or animals who need our help. In reality, animals do live in captivity for a number of reasons and the welfare standards for these animals are too often disregarded.

The welfare of the animals is not always made a priority. Animals in captivity are too commonly exploited and mistreated or simply living in subpar conditions and it's done in plain sight, with floods of visitors and tourists witnessing it. Our failure is our assumptions and we need to look at any place that should be a home to animals more critically and speak out.

Wild Welfare makes a difference to the lives of captive animals. Their approach means engaging with facilities and ensuring accountability for the responsibility to the animals and willing to work with the facilities and other organizations to educate and make progressive change.

Things you can do:

Make ethical choices that put animal welfare first

Respect wildlife and their environments - Be a tourist, but an eco one that aids conservation practices

Don't engage in forced photo or animal handling interactions

Don't purchase or use animal products - Make informed decisions and ensure your products are cruelty free meaning not tested on animals and not including any animals products

Our choices can have a huge negative impact on animal welfare. It's important we make informed decisions and prioritize animal welfare

So, all this to say I'm going to run 21km around Paris and talk about Wild Welfare a lot while asking you all for money

That's Daisy in my picture. She'd love if you gave us a donation 🌼
