Last August, my sister was given the incredibly scary news that she had an incurable cancer. Medullary thyroid cancer. One of the rarest forms of thyroid cancer to exist.

The Christie Hospital is one of the few hospitals within the UK with expertise in the rare disease.

Since her diagnosis, she has undergone a massive surgery removing 204 lymphnodes, her thyroid and a tumour in her chest. Her journey is not over yet, as she continues to have disease present within her body.

Throughout all of this, her strength has not only inspired me, but millions of strangers on the internet, who are invested in her story and her ability to share such intimate and life changing circumstances to raise awareness.

Her strength has inspired me to face one of my own fears: heights. Saskia has thrown herself into this journey head on, so I will throw myself out of an aeroplane, 10,000 feet in the sky to raise money for the incredible Christie Hospital that my sister’s care is under.

The Christie hospital offer an extensive amount of complimentary care for cancer patients that is entirely reliant on donations, and make a huge difference to cancer patients every single day.
