Story
CIDP (Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy) is a rare autoimmune disorder where the body's immune system mistakenly attacks the nervous system which leads to weakness and loss of sensory function in the legs and arms. Meaning people diagnosed with the condition have to learn how to walk and use their hands and feet all over again.
Last year my brother was diagnosed with this rare life changing condition at the age of 28, like many people with CIDP his life has changed significantly.
After spending some time in the RVI Hospital he then went on to Walkergate park Rehabilitation Center to begin his recovery.
He now relies on the use of walking aids and is going through intensive treatment and physiotherapy to help him learn to walk again and learn to live with this condition.
On Friday 25th April my Husband and his work colleagues from Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies will be playing a charity football match to raise money and awareness of CIDP and other Inflammatory Neuropathy Disorders. Any donations or support is hugely appreciated.
The match will be held at Billingham Town Football Club, Bedford Terrace, Billingham, TS23 4AG (KO of 5:00pm, Bar opening at 4:00pm) If anyone would like to come down to support and watch the match you are all welcome!
GAIN charity offers vital support for people living with these Inflammatory Neuropathy Disorders as well as grants and much needed research into CIDP, GBS and other associated conditions.
