Story
We are going to complete the Three Welsh Peak Challenge at the end of September, raising money for our Hepatology unit within Ceredigion. We are aiming to purchase educational models for our patients, to provide visual health education in clinics. This will enable a wider understanding of their liver disease diagnosis and staging.
This would also be beneficial for our Acute outreach clinics and our Liver Health Awareness days, as well as the regular training we provide in primary and secondary care. We recently had a very successful event in Aberystwyth Bandstand and are aiming to plan Liver Events around Ceredigion quarterly. We are also supporting local community health and wellbeing events. The funds we raise will enable better health education and health prevention.
Our Hepatology service also provides acute outreach clinics in the drug and alcohol services and Homeless Charites. With the money raised we would also like to purchase a mobile defibrillator which potentially could deliver a life saving shock during our acute outreach clinics in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest or medical emergency.
