Running for Saving Wildcats 🐾

Windmill Half Marathon 2025 · 10 August 2025
Thank you for taking the time to visit my just giving page. My name is Chloe Martin and I am a full-time zookeeper at Lakeland Wildlife Oasis, a small zoo in the northwest of England.
The Challenge:
On the 10th of August I will be running the Windmill Half Marathon in Lytham St Annes. This is my first ever running race event, and as I am not the most experienced runner, a run of this length (13.1 miles) is going to be both a mental and physical challenge.
The Charity:
Saving Wildcats is a campaign run by RZSS, working to save the Scottish Wildcat a species that is on the brink of extinction. Saving wildcats has been doing research into the behaviour and ecology of the species as well as running a captive breeding and reintroduction programme to help increase population numbers. This Charity is close to me as at Lakeland Wildlife Oasis, we are currently home to Heather and Thistle, a pair of female Scottish wildcats that are members of the breeding programme and could play a vital role in saving their species.
Any support and donations to Saving Wildcats will really mean a lot to me and help motivate me in completing the half marathon in August.
Together we can restore this incredible species to the remote wild landscapes where they belong:
- £7.50 can feed a wildcat for a week in the new conservation centre
- £30 can vaccinate a wildcat to protect it from disease
- £350 can feed a wildcat for an entire year
- £1,500 can buy a GPS collar to monitor a wildcat once it has been released into the wild
