In October 2025 I'm running the York Marathon and I hope to raise some money for a great local York charity.

York Neighbours is a fantastic cause that provides on the ground, direct interventions and help to older people in York. They work with self referral helping in two main ways- support doing practical tasks around the home and secondly keeping people connected through regular phone calls and events. As people get older, or perhaps due to temporary illness or injury, some jobs around the home become almost impossible; for example, changing a lightbulb, collecting a prescription, or shopping. Depending on the nature of the task, thety can help with these on a one-off basis. Its a small charity that has a massive direct impact in making people's lives better in really practical ways.

But in order to continue they need financial support so please donate small or large , any contribution is so welcome. Although I lived in York for 14 years I never ran the York marathon so it feels only right to be running it to raise funds for the community which has been my home for so many years.
