Story
I have been lucky enough to receive a ballot place for the London Marathon 2026, and would like to use this opportunity to raise money for PAPYRUS, in memory of a former colleague and a friend, Emily Owen.
On the 18th March 2020, Emily decided she couldn't cope with life under lockdown and attempted to take her own life. 5 days later, she died in the hospital where she had been born 19 years earlier.
Emily was the kindest person, always put a smile on everyone's face and was always thinking of others. One of Emily's last wishes was to raise awareness of suicide, which is why I will be dedicating my marathon to Em. For more on Emily's story please go to https://www.3dadswalking.uk/tim-emily
PAPYRUS is the national Charity for the Prevention of Young Suicide.
Suicide is the biggest killer of young people under the age of 35 in the UK, every year over 1800 young people took their own lives. PAPYRUS provides confidential support and advice to young people struggling with thoughts of suicide, and anyone worried about a young person through their helpline, HOPELINE247.
Every £10 raised can contribute towards a life-saving contact to HOPELINE247. Your donations really are changing lives, thank you.
