Hi there,
I will be cycling a BIG 500km over 5 days across Kenya this November with Child.org. I’m no cyclist, but I’m about to be! The funds raised will be contributing to helping make pregnancies and births safer for mums and their babies in Kenya.
The moneys raised will help Child.org scale up their Team Mum maternal and neonatal health work by:
• Increasing the number of pregnant women attending antenatal clinics
• Training more community health workers to set up and run co-supportive pregnancy groups, arming pregnant women with life-saving advice to look after themselves and their babies. £100 would enable a pregnancy support group of 15 women to be set up, guiding them through safe pregnancy with a 95% success rate.
• Improve the quality of care for pregnant women, such as providing ultrasound scans, which can be life-changing. £350 can cover the cost of one outreach session with Team Mum’s mobile clinic - bringing free ultrasound scans and comprehensive screening to pregnant women in rural areas.
