Story
My name is Chloe and I will celebrate my 21st Birthday in August 2026.
I have a very complex medical history which started around the age of 18 months old and has more or less got worse since then having spent a large portion of my life in hospital, with some lengthy admissions of over a year!
My complexities include
1. Brain Stem Tumour (monitored)
2. Hydrocephalus (VP Shunt Fitted)
Registered Blind (since removal of Brain Tumour in 2016)
3. Hearing issues (wears 2 hearing aids)
4. Wheelchair user (neuropathy - loss of use of legs)
5. Ileostomy (large bowel doesn’t function)
6. Hickman Line (TPN - all nutrition through tube into heart)
7. Jejunostomy - tube into lower bowel to administer meds)
8. Nuerofibromatosis Type 1 (NF1)
Clearly all of the above has had a dramatic affect on my life and as a consequence of the above I have found i am constantly written off at nearly every turn but despite all I suffer, I try to never let things get me down and always seek to find the positives in all situations I find myself in. Being medically complex is not fun by any stretch of the imagination, but I have learnt so much, not only about myself, but about my conditions and ultimately how I might use that knowledge to help others.
Whenever possible, I like to help others who are less fortunate than me and over the last 10 years have raised around £50,000 for charities such as The Brain Tumour Charity, Childhood Tumour Trust as well as various wards at QMC Hospital - some of which has been covered by the local press and BBC Television.
I am organising a Charity Ball which will take place once again at https://www.renaissance-kelham.com/ who are supporting us for the 3rd time on Saturday 26th September 2026 during which we are holding an Auction & Raffle
