Story
I am running the Baccus Wine Run on 13 September 2026 to raise funds for Us in a Bus, a small but mighty charity with a powerful vision. Us in a Bus envisions a society where people with profound learning disabilities, complex needs, and sensory processing differences have the opportunities to communicate and connect in ways many of us take for granted.
The incredible practitioners at Us in a Bus visit clients directly, running interactive sessions over time to build meaningful connections. They use approaches like Intensive Interaction and specialized equipment to support engagement, imagination, and comfort. The people they support face challenges that make everyday activities—talking with friends, sharing jokes, choosing meals—difficult due to their disabilities. Yet what unites us all is the fundamental need to connect and communicate in ways that nurture emotional well-being.
Times are tough for many of us right now, but if you could spare just £10—less than the cost of a pizza delivery or two pints—you would be making an invaluable difference. Every pound raised will help Us in a Bus continue their vital work supporting those who need it most.
Having completed the Great North Run last year, I’ve decided one half marathon every other year is enough for me! To make this run extra memorable (and challenging), I’ll be doing it wearing a silly multi-coloured wig—very itchy and hot but all for an amazing cause.
Please join me on this journey by donating today. Together we can help break down barriers and create connections that truly matter.
