The 500 miles will be completed across a series of endurance events, including the Fortitude Ultra Marathon at Pippingford and the London Marathon. Together, these challenges represent resilience, determination and community — values that sit at the heart of Danson’s work.
Danson Youth Trust is a well-established, community-rooted charity that supports children, young people, families and older adults to thrive at every stage of life. From early years and parenting support through to youth activities and later-life services, Danson provides a continuum of care that strengthens relationships, wellbeing and community connection.
At the heart of Danson’s work is a commitment to creating safe, inclusive and nurturing spaces where children and young people can grow in confidence, build resilience and reach their full potential as positive members of society. Through educational, recreational and developmental opportunities, Danson supports families through both everyday challenges and times of greater need.
Every family’s circumstances are different, and Danson responds by tailoring support to individual needs. This includes funded or subsidised access, SEND-specific provision, specialist interventions and inclusive programmes that remove barriers to participation. This approach ensures children and young people receive the right support at the right time, regardless of financial, emotional or developmental challenges.
The need for this work has increased significantly in recent years. Many children and young people are facing heightened emotional, behavioural and mental health challenges, alongside rising isolation and inequality. By offering positive activities, trusted role models and safe social spaces outside formal education, Danson helps young people develop confidence, empathy and self-respect — skills that last a lifetime.
Funds raised through this challenge will directly enable Danson Youth Trust to respond to emerging and unmet needs within the community, supporting projects that:
Provide structured, supportive programmes for children experiencing stress and emotional-based school avoidance
Increase access and inclusion for children and young people with SEND
Offer tailored, funded support for families facing barriers to participation
Together, this work helps reduce isolation, build confidence and resilience, and ensures every child has the opportunity to feel safe, included and supported to thrive.
By supporting 500 Miles for Danson, you are helping to build a stronger, more connected community and create brighter futures for children and young people.
Thank you for being part of the journey 💙
