Endure24 Reading 2025 · 7 June 2025 to 8 June 2025 · Start fundraising for this event

Young Lives vs Cancer is the only charity in the UK with specialist social workers dedicated to providing tailored psychosocial support to children and young people with cancer, and their families.

Story

This year I will be taking on Endure 24 as a solo runner. For those who don’t know, endure 24 is a 24hr running event taking place near Reading each year in June. To put it simply, I will be running (and then shuffling/walking followed by crawling and rolling) as many miles as I can in 24hrs. Targeting (in theory) 100miles - 125miles. 4-5 consecutive marathons.

I have taken on Endure 24 a number of times in the past as part of a team but never as a solo runner. I know the event and the course but I have never ran this kind of distance in a 24hr period. Rest assured, any sponsorship will be thoroughly earned.

As part of the challenge I will be raising money for Young Lives vs Cancer. They do fantastic work with young people and their families when dealing with a cancer diagnosis. I am lucky enough to not have a personal connection to the charity or to have ever relied on their services, but that does not diminish the charities worth and I am proud to raise funds for them to continue doing what they do.

More details of the great work they do can be seen below and on their website.

I massively appreciate any sponsorship you send my way and can assure you I will earn every penny on the trails of Wasing park.

Young Lives vs Cancer

When a child or young person is diagnosed with cancer, their whole world (and their family’s) can feel like it’s falling apart. They need special treatment because their cancer is different to adults’, they can only be treated in certain hospitals, and they often travel miles and miles to get there.

The impact of cancer on young lives is far more than medical. Their anxieties are deep. Their education, mental health and social lives suffer. Their futures feel very uncertain.

We stop at nothing to make their voices heard and their unique needs understood, so they can get the right care and support at the right time.
