Story
I’m taking on the Marathon des Sables, one of the toughest endurance races on Earth.
Over 7 days, I’ll cover around 270 km (168 miles) across the Sahara Desert.
• Daytime temperatures often reach 40°C+
• Self-sufficient carrying all my food and kit
• Water only available at checkpoints
• Sleeping in basic tents under the stars
No shortcuts. No comfort. Just relentless forward progress.
Why This Matters to Me
I’m raising money for Help for Heroes.
I’m also ex-military, and served in Bosnia and other operational environments. I’ve seen first-hand the demands that service life places on people, physically and mentally.
Not everyone comes back the same.
Some carry injuries you can see. Others carry the ones you can’t.
That’s why this matters to me.
The Reality of the Challenge
This isn’t just a run, it’s a sustained test of endurance.
• Heat that drains you
• Fatigue that builds day after day
• Long stages where you’re out there for hours with no escape
Why Your Support Matters
Your donation helps provide:
• Physical rehabilitation
• Mental health support
• Recovery programmes
• Support for families
Real support for people rebuilding their lives after service.
