On July 21st 2023, it will be exactly 10 years since my amazing Auntie Louise McDermott lost her battle with cancer. A hole in my heart was made that day, which will never be filled. She was an incredible human being. She is sorely missed by many. I find it difficult at times that she’s not here, especially to watch my children grow.

I’ve been lucky enough to stay in touch with some team members from Dorothy House over the years. They are simply incredible human beings, and they work they do from the people who greet you from when you walk in, to the end of life care nurses. Is simply outstanding. Despite loosing Louise. The care they gave to my family and I after Louise died was amazing. Every year they hold a number of remembrance service at Christmas to help grieving families. This is just one example.

Sadly, however. Dorothy house cost a substantial amount of money to operate. When Louise died in 2013, it cost £7000 per day to keep the place running. So you can only imagine what it cost now. Around double. All finds they receive, only one quarter comes from the government. So as part of celebrating Louise and what she did in her short life. I wanted to try to raise as much as possible for the amazing people up at winsley.
