Story
Hello, we are the Linton lads, and we’re proud to be running the Cambridge Half Marathon in aid of Petals.
We should start by saying that when we take on a challenge, we mean it. Over the years, we’ve raised around £9,000 for Petals by cycling coast-to-coast in under 24 hours, completing a self led Three Peaks challenge, and hosting a sports fun day. Each time, we’ve pushed ourselves not just for the adventure, but for the cause that means so much to us.
We’re more than just a running team - we’re lifelong friends. Having known each other since nursery, our friendship now spans over 25 years, and together with our partners, we’ve shared countless milestones. Between us, there have been eight weddings, and nine wonderful children welcomed into the world so far.
But alongside the joy, we’ve also faced moments of heartbreak. It’s at these times that Petals has been there. The reality is sobering: one in four pregnancies end in miscarriage, one in 200 babies are stillborn each year, more than 5,000 pregnancies are ended for medical reasons annually, and every single week, 24 babies die shortly after birth. These aren’t just numbers - they represent families, friends, and lives changed forever.
Petals provides vital support during these darkest of times, and we are running to ensure more families can access their incredible work. We’ll now share some of our own stories.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for any donation you can make to this truly special charity.
