Cycling from Land's End to John O'Groats · 31 May 2024

Over 150,000 of us in the UK have MS. It’s unpredictable and different for everyone. But it doesn’t have to be this way. We’re the MS Society. We understand what life’s like with MS. We're here for you through the highs, lows and everything in between. Together, we are strong enough to stop MS.

Story

Over the last few years I have seen the impacts Multiple Sclerosis can have. Both a close friend and a family member have recently been diagnosed with MS, with very different symptoms and very different presentations. This diagnosis has led to a significant change in their lives, with the commencement of regular treatments along with trying to manage the avalanche of information and questions that inevitably follows. Without excellent MS charities, this would be an unbearable burden.

The MS Society fund world-leading research, share the latest information and campaign for everyone's rights. Their ultimate goal is to find treatments for everyone, but until then they are working to make sure no one has to face MS alone.

To help the MS Society reach their goals and to support the work they do I am cycling from Land's End to John O'Groats over 9 days, starting on May 31st. That's a distance of just over 980 miles and goes over the hills of Cornwall and Devon and up Cheddar Gorge, before traversing the Severn Bridge into Wales. From there it's through the midlands into Cumbria before crossing the border into Scotland. Then it's over the Forth Road Bridge and into the Cairngorms National Park before reaching the North coast and the final destination!
