Help Me Break a World Record and Support Worcester Students
In April 2026, I’ll be running the London Marathon in full graduation attire—suit, gown, hood and mortarboard—to attempt the Guinness World Record for the fastest marathon in academic dress (the current record stands at 3 hours, 31 minutes, 11 seconds).
I’m doing this to raise awareness and funds for the University of Worcester Student Welfare and Scholarships Fund, which supports students in need through initiatives such as:
Community Cupboard – providing essential food and supplies
Free Breakfasts – giving students a healthy start to the day
Hardship Aid – tailored financial support for those struggling
Scholarships – helping talented students achieve their potential
I’ve worked at the University for nearly 30 years, and I’m proud that we focus on making education accessible to everyone, regardless of background. Many of our health‑based courses train nurses, doctors, midwives and paramedics. These students spend so much time on placements that they often can’t work enough hours to support themselves, making life financially tough.
If you can donate to this cause, I would be incredibly grateful. Every contribution helps students stay fed, supported and focused on their studies. If you can’t donate, please share this page—it makes a huge difference.
Thank you for your support!
Chris
