Chris's fundraiser for Motor Neurone Disease Association

Chris Grove is raising money for Motor Neurone Disease Association

Baker Street - Maritime Walk · 17 October 2026

Motor Neurone Disease moves fast. It takes away time, it takes away independence and it has no cure. Every day we support people affected by MND. We fund ground-breaking research. We campaign for better care. We’re here for everyone who needs us. Because with MND, every day matters.

Story

“Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.”

Confucius

Sometimes in life we hit a bump in the road. Dealing with an unforeseen challenge can be seen as exactly that; sometimes it can provide an opportunity.

On Friday I was due to fly to Switzerland to take part in the Cyclotour du Lac Léman - basically a 175km ride around Lake Geneva. That was before my bump in the road….

So, perhaps this was an opportunity to apply the training that was (hopefully) going to get me round the lake….

A quick change of plans and on Saturday I will be riding from BDO’s UK head office in Baker Street to BDO’s Southampton office - not quite the 175km originally planned but 141km…. and probably a little less scenic!

I will be riding in aid of the MND association, in support of one of my team whilst at BDO who has recently been diagnosed with MND; his “bump in the road”…

There has been some fantastic work done to raise awareness of MND and funds for research to find a cure but despite the efforts of those involved, especially in the rugby community, the causes are unknown and it can affect anyone.

So please help me in raising money to fund vital research so that in future no-one will need to face this particular “bump" in their road.

Sponsor me on here and your money will change the lives of people affected by motor neurone disease in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

JustGiving will send your donation directly to the MND Association.
