Story
We all know someone whose world has been turned upside down by cancer - a parent, a partner, a friend, a colleague, a relative or even a child. Cancer’s reach is personal, relentless and silent and for those affected brings a need for support. That’s why FORCE matters. FORCE is there for people and their families facing the toughest conversations and decisions - offering practical information, emotional support and a community that understands alongside funding local research and buying equipment to improve patient care.
This May, the C-Harlow’s are lacing up their trainers and taking on the Great West Run together to raise funds for FORCE. Donate today and be part of our journey, mile by mile.
Since COVID running has become our thing as Charli picked up her speed, and Chris wasn’t able refuse a run with her anymore; sometimes he even finds himself struggling to keep up! Over the recent years, Parkrun has become an obsession - tackling several challenges (including working our way through the alphabet), it is now our Saturday morning ritual. We drag along Miska, who equally loves the buzz and famously howls the moment she sees people gather at the start line and now Barney joins the fun too, bouncing along in his running pram. Since having Barney, it’s harder for us to get out running together during the week, so we take turns balancing parent duties. That makes training for the half marathon that little bit more tricky.
Charli is running her first race back after having Barney. Training for a half marathon has been as much about reclaiming her body and confidence as it has been about fitness. Charli’s motivation is also deeply personal. Her Auntie Sue and her Nannie both lost their lives to cancer, and those losses are still felt every day.
Chris is taking on his first half marathon, not just because Charli signed him up, but also because he wanted to run beside her and has wanted to tick one off his bucket list for a while. His motivation to run for FORCE comes first-hand as his dad has faced his own cancer scares.
Together, they are running for the people they love and for the ones they may never meet. Funds raised will help FORCE continue to provide expert, accessible guidance and a community that helps people navigate the complex reality of cancer diagnosis, treatment and life afterwards. Your donation will help keep critical services running: specialist information, helplines, support groups, and resources that make an enormous difference when the world feels uncertain. Whether you can give a little or a lot, your contribution will be a step toward easing the burden for those affected by cancer.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
