In October 2024, my friend Mark was admitted to hospital after feeling unwell. A month later, he was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (a blood cancer) and informed he only had weeks to live.

But Mark had other plans...

Weeks became months. Against all odds, he kept fighting. Then came a breakthrough — access to a an experimental treatment that could change everything. It wasn’t easy, but Mark gave it everything he had.

In December 2025, he shared the news we’d all been hoping for: he was in remission.

Now, to celebrate, give back, and raise awareness, Mark and a group of friends are taking on the Cardiff Half Marathon in October 2026.

Every mile is for the fight he refused to give up — and for everyone still in it.
