Story
Tom Lally and Andy, Tom, Catherine and Chris Inglehearn are running the Ilkley half marathon on July 12th for the Burley-Téréli Friendship Trust (https://btft.org.uk). Téréli is a village on the edge of the Sahara desert in Mali, one of the world's poorest countries, where climate change and war combine to create a harsh environment. BTFT celebrates the twenty-six-year-old link between Burley-In-Wharfedale in Yorkshire and Téréli, and fundraises for much-needed projects in Téréli and the surrounding Dogon region. We have funded the digging of wells, building a maternity room and school, a motorcycle ambulance, famine relief, medicines, solar panels, and tree planting and dune stabilisation to try to keep the effects of climate change at bay. If you feel able to support us, we'd be really grateful for every donation, big or small. BTFT is run entirely by volunteers and has no administration costs. Every penny goes to support our friends in Téréli in Mali in sub-Saharan Africa, one of the poorest countries in the world.
