Chris's fundraiser for Motor Neurone Disease Association

Chris Jackson is raising money for Motor Neurone Disease Association

Team: Andrew's Hadrian's Wall Relay for Motor Neurone Disease Association

Hadrians Wall Relay (Dolomites division) · 5 June 2026

Motor Neurone Disease moves fast. It takes away time, it takes away independence and it has no cure. Every day we support people affected by MND. We fund ground-breaking research. We campaign for better care. We’re here for everyone who needs us. Because with MND, every day matters.

Story

Our longtime friend and BBC colleague Andrew Hartley was recently diagnosed with Motor Neurone disease. Not one to shy away from it he and friends are doing a fundraiser for the MND Association. What better than to walk Hadrian’s Wall in a relay in June. As I will be on holiday in the Dolomites I will do my own relay leg in tandem with the others.

If you can spare a few quid to help motivate me that would be fab. Here’s Andrew’s story….

For years I reported the news as a correspondent for the BBC.

In December 2025 the story suddenly became my own when I was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease.

Now the people I once worked alongside in BBC newsrooms across the North East and Cumbria are joining forces with my friends and family to take on a relay along the length of Hadrian's Wall over the weekend of the 5th, 6th and 7th of June 2026 - running and walking mile by mile to support the work of the MND Association.

Your support will help fund vital research and provide care and support for people living with MND and their families. If you can donate, it would mean a great deal to me and to everyone taking part.

Sponsor us on here and your money will change the lives of people affected by motor neurone disease.

JustGiving will send your donation directly to the MND Association.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and secure – your details are safe, they’ll never sell them or send unwanted emails.

Thank you.
