Story
Last year for the second year running, we shared our plan at The Revenue Club to take on The Longest Day challenge — a test of endurance, mindset, and team spirit for Bowel Cancer UK. This time we are taking on the challenge of playing 72 holes of golf (4 rounds!) in a day for Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital, a cause literally close to the heart of co-director, Chris Knight.....
"Following regular CT and PET scans, a tumour was discovered in my right lung midway through last year — a spread from my original stage 3 bowel cancer. Thanks to the incredible team at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital, that tumour was successfully removed. And in March, I underwent a second operation, this time on my left lung, to remove a similar tumour. Once again, the outcome has been positive — something I don’t take for granted for a second.
Throughout all of this, the NHS has been nothing short of extraordinary. The care, professionalism, and humanity shown by everyone at LHCH, particularly the team on Oak Ward this time around, has been world-class. In moments where you feel at your most vulnerable, they bring calm, confidence, and compassion in equal measure.
What’s also become incredibly clear to me is the power of people around you. The team at The Revenue Club didn’t just keep things moving while I stepped back, they rallied. They supported me, supported each other, and embodied exactly the kind of culture we set out to build: one rooted in trust, resilience, and genuine care. When you build a business, you hope to create something meaningful, but it’s in moments like this you realise it’s the people that make it truly special. I hope that all of our clients feel we are a pleasure to work with, and one of the key things we look to do at TRC is become part of the clients team.
So this year, taking on The Longest Day challenge means even more. It’s not just about raising money — it’s about giving back to the people and the place that have given me so much. If you’re able to support, every contribution will go towards helping LHCH continue the incredible work they do every single day. Everyone was so generous last year, and I promise I am trying everything I can not to have another cancerous growth… but i cant promise i wont ask you for charity donations again!"
