Story
Hello and Welcome to my page.
I am going to be running the Watford Half Marathon, Milton Keynes Half Marathon and the Brighton Marathon in 2026 in memory of Theresa Hayward. Theresa was my partners mum and was diagnosed with MND in October 2019. She sadly passed away in January 2021 at the age of 57.
Living on the Isle of Wight she faced challenges getting a diagnosis and relied heavily on the local hospice for care and support. MNDA are working hard to raise awareness and support for families like ours, so diagnosis and quality of life can be improved and hopefully one day find a cure.
MND is a cruel disease that impacts everyone differently, I watched Theresa fight it with courage and we were lucky that she was able to keep her good humour and love of chocolates and cakes until the end. I have seen firsthand the impact MND has on sufferers and their families and hope to be able to positively impact another family’s difficult journey.
I know if I told Theresa I was running a marathon for her she would laugh and probably make a joke about me liking cakes way too much to make it to the finish line but alas here we are.
I hope to raise as much money as possible for MND and I know Theresa will be cheering me on and or laughing from wherever she is.
Any donation is greatly received and means the world to me and MNDA alike.
Thank you
Chris
