Chris’ MPN Mountain Bike Challenge

Christopher Hayes is raising money for MPN Voice (Guy's and St Thomas' Charity)

Chris’ MPN Mountain Bike Challenge · 1 May 2026

MPN Voice leads the way in supporting people with rare blood cancers called Myeloproliferative Neoplasms (MPNs), with accurate information and emotional support. We're funding research toward better treatments and one day a cure. Most importantly we offer hope to those affected by MPNs.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I’m raising funds for MPN Voice, which is a charity that supports people with rare blood cancers called Myeloproliferative Neoplasms (MPNs). These cancers strike at the bone marrow and I was diagnosed with an MPN called Polycythaemia Vera (PV) last year.

Along with the amazing MPN team at Nottingham City Hospital, MPN Voice has provided much needed support and information during a very worrying time, and your support will go a long way towards MPN Voice helping as many patients as possible.

Fatigue is one of the most common symptoms of MPNs, so I’ve had to be realistic about what fundraising ‘challenge’ I can take on. Since my diagnosis I’ve been (slowly) trying to get back on my mountain bike, and I’ve decided to try and climb the equivalent height of Ben Nevis (1,345 metres) over a series of weekends. I know that this might not seem like much, but it’s the current equivalent of a marathon for me.

MPN Voice is a small volunteer run charity, and I truly appreciate any support that you can give. The funds are much needed and will be put to very good use.

Many, many thanks,

Chris.
