Story

Dear reader,

As some of you may already know, I lost my amazing big sister in January 2023 to Cancer. It was absolutely devastating and I'm not afraid to admit, I still struggle with this loss everyday.

Ever since, I've wanted to raise money for the Martlets hospice who are an incredible local charity who supported Michelle in her last few weeks with compassion and the upmost dignity.

I'm not much of a runner, I'm certainly not built for it, but this isn't going to stop me achieving my goal of raising money in her honour for this amazing charity.

One of my best mates, Andy, has kindly agreed to help me on my journey and will be running to keep me on the straight and narrow.

I would be so grateful for any donation you could spare towards this remarkable charity.

You'll find more info about the martlets below and I hope to see you down on the seafront on March 2nd!

Thank you

Chris "Nunny"

Martlets is a local charity providing essential care to people affected by terminal illness in Brighton and Hove, and surrounding areas. Our expert teams provide the very best care and support, helping patients and their loved ones to live life to the full during the precious time they have together.

Most people receive care from us in their own homes. Others choose to spend their final days on our inpatient unit, or to join us as inpatients for respite care or symptom management. Outpatients also visit our hospice for pain relief, physiotherapy, counselling, welfare advice and social activities; some of these services were adapted during the COVID pandemic and continue to be offered via telephone and online video sessions.

Martlets care is free thanks to the support of local people, businesses, and trusts. An NHS grant covers a portion of our costs, but we rely on the community to fund most of our vital services.
