Chris's fundraiser for Alzheimer's Society

AJ Bell Great North Run · 7 September 2025 · Start fundraising for this event
I turned 60 in December, so I decided to make this year a bumper fundraising year, with your help. I have a number of events lined up, including:
The Wolverhampton 10k on 23.3.25

Shrewsbury 10k 6.7.25
The Great North Run (for the fifth consecutive year, and for the first time with my son, Sidd) in September

My FIRST MARATHON, at the age of 60 (did I mention that I'm 60?), the Yorkshire Marathon, in October

In between all that running, I shall be doing my first skydive. It will be on the 3rd August over Cornwall.

If you feel exhausted just reading all of that, use whatever strength you have left to contribute to my fundraising efforts, please please please.
And just to remind you why I am doing all of this, and have been fundraising for five years, my mum was dianosed with Alzheimer's about 7 years ago. She is bedridden now, cannot remember any of us, and is slowly shutting down because of this cruelest of illnesses. Lately, her body has started to refuse solid food.
More and more of us know someone who is going through the same terminal stripping of their past and personality. Any efforts to address this illness must be worth contributing to.
At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives.
We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future.
