Swim Mawddach Estuary - Change a life. 🏊♂️
This summer, I’m taking on one of the UK’s wildest open-water swims — a 10km cold-water swim near Snowdonia, swimming up the beautiful Estuary.
For me, this challenge is about much more than the distance.
I was never a confident swimmer as a child and didn’t have swimming lessons until my late twenties. At the time, I had a vision of completing an Ironman, and as swimming was by far my weakest discipline, I knew I had to work on it.
That dream became a reality, and in 2013 I completed my first Ironman. Along the way, swimming — particularly open-water swimming — became a real passion.
Over the years, though, I’d lost a little focus with it. Then last year I came across this incredible event and discovered Level Water, the charity behind it.
Swimming is a key life skill, and I believe every child should have the opportunity to learn.
Level Water provides 1-to-1 swimming lessons for children with disabilities — lessons that are joyful, empowering and genuinely life-changing.
And there’s something particularly special about doing this swim in Barmouth. It’s a place my family visits regularly, so to swim 10km through the estuary, surrounded by such incredible landscape, feels like a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Even better, my brother is taking it on with me. Two brothers, 10km of cold water, and one epic challenge. 💪
It’s going to be tough. Big nature, beautiful scenery, hundreds of swimmers taking on something extraordinary together — I’m in.
But the real reason I’m doing it is to raise money for Level Water.
Every £15 raised gives a child the chance to learn to swim.
If you can spare anything at all, please consider sponsoring me. Your donation could help give a child a skill, confidence and opportunity that can last a lifetime.
Swim the Estuary. Change a life. ❤️
