Story
Hello,
Chris here, I've worked for the Talyllyn since 2011 in the cafes and in my current job as the PW superviser. I have been a volunteer on the railway from a young age as a tracksider and then various operating roles that ive now found myself in. I've benefited alot from the railway, making a life in Tywyn with my wife Jen, who works in the railway shop, and now my dog Nala, making many friends along the way.
I'm looking to raise some money for the 75 appeal by walking the Cambrian way, a 298 mile walk which has 73,700 feet of ascent, the equivalent of 2 1/4 times up Everest. The walk runs the spine of Wales starting in Cardiff and finishing in Conwy, passing through the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park, through the Cambrian mountains and then on to Eryri National Park, crossing some of the highest peaks in Wales. I am aiming to complete this walk before I turn **cough** 40 in 4 years time. To make this challenge even more difficult I am trying to use public transport as much as possible.
The appeal aims to redevelop Pendre workshops and create a secure future for the railway. This will be a massive project, which will require match funding along with the National lottery heritage fund to complete. You can find more information at https://www.talyllyn.co.uk/heritage-fund/
