Chris Pepper is raising money for Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust

Tandem Skydive · 6 August 2025

We want to ensure that every patient at Addenbrooke's and the Rosie hospitals experiences the highest quality of care available. We raise funds for cutting edge technology, additional specialist staff and extra comforts for patients, over and above what is possible with NHS funding alone.

Story

As many of you are aware, my Wife, Taylor, affectionately known as Tam, was diagnosed with a brain tumor in May 2024 and is fortunately recovering well, and without the amazing work of Addenbrooks hospital, surgeon Richard Mair in particular, Tam's story could have been very different. To say thanks to Addenbrooks and to help support their ongoing work, I have booked to do a tandem sky dive on 06th August 2025 to raise funds for Addenbrooke's Charitable Trust.

Sorry to anyone who is friends with Tam on Facebook, or has been unfortunately lumbered with her 'story' or 'journey' every day for the past year, as I'm now going to join in and spread the word.

In April 2024, Tam went for a routine eye test when they discovered swelling in her left optic nerve. Further work was carried out and a brain tumor was discovered. Luckily, this was caught at an early stage which meant Tam did not have any symptoms and removal was possible.

As a family, our lives were turned upside down. With a 4 year old Daughter, Ava, ever rising bills, so much of the world to still see and so many memories still to make, we had no idea what to do and how we were going to explain this to Ava, however, a few weeks later, Tam had surgery, and the majority of the tumour was removed. They didn't remove as many of the grey hairs as hoped neither did they give her an anti-aging pill, but they did save her life.

Over a year post surgery, Tams still a pain in my ass, not so much as Ava, but is doing well. She has spent the last 10 months on a new drug that isn't yet licensed for use in the UK; but she has seen shrinkage in her tumor owing to this treatment.

Ava and I are so proud with how well Tam has taken to this unexpected stage in her life and want to do something to help continue Tam's treatment and help anyone else unfortunately going through anything similar. If Ava had it her way, she would do a skydive too, but she's only 5 and too talkative and I wouldn't want to put the instructor at risk of distraction. Besides, Ava would likely tell them what to do rather than take instruction. I'm sure she's learnt how to sky dive at school.

Anyway, I've set up a Just giving page should anyone wish to support me and raise money for Addenbrooks and I would appreciate anything you can give.

I've covered the cost of the jump so anything you give, minus whatever Just Giving take, will go to Addenbrooks Charitable Trust.
