Chris's 1,000 Mile Bike Ride for Raystede

Land's End to John O'Groats Bike Ride · 6 September 2025
I'm raising £1000 for Raystede, to help give animals a better life.
By sponsoring my 1000 mile bike ride, from Lands End to John O Groats, you can help make a real difference, please watch the video below.
I work for Raystede, but that for me is not enough, that's why I am taking on this challenge, to do just a little bit more.
You can follow my ride, or catch up with my training in the months ahead until I set off. I use Garmin to navigate and Strava to record my activities. Since last summer i have been riding to work most days, to improve my fitness and consistency. My bike ride will be unsupported, span 17 days, with an average of 60 miles per day, carrying all necessary gear for camping and cooking. My bike, a 12 -year- old Dawes, will be 25kg of gear in four panniers, a top bag and no its not electric!
There is no set route for LeJog, (Lands End-John O Groats), so I will work my way East and North on minor roads and cycle tracks, resupplying before my campsite each night. Hopefully, after pitching, cooking and cleaning i will have time to update this page before I fall asleep.
So, here I am, cycling the long climb to the start. Thanks for visiting my page and if possible, sponsor me and support Raystede.
Raystede is a charity that aims to give animals a better life through rehoming, rehabilitation and sanctuary, and give people the support and knowledge they need to treat animals with care and respect.
