RNLI volunteer lifeboat crews provide a 24-hour search and rescue service all around the UK and Ireland, while lifeguards keep a careful watch on the UK’s busiest beaches. RNLI lifesaving and drowning prevention depend on supporter fundraising and the generous donations that you and others give.

Story

In 2010, my late Mum Georgina Stening raised £1100 for the RNLI by being rescued by a Newfoundland on Sheringham beach in Norfolk. She loved Dogs, I love Cars.

It just so happens we are joining a group on a trip to Holland in May which will be a fundraiser for the RNLI - so I decided to put the two things together and raise money in her memory.

Thirty of us are driving our old cars (maybe classics, maybe not) to the Netherlands, to attend EMWalhalla; Europe's best show for unloved, unappreciated, awful and obscure cars.

Undeterred by the challenges of similar trips in 2024 and 2025, this year Team EMWalhalla will return in larger numbers, with an even bigger selection of weird, ropey, temperamental and uncomfortable cars which have all seen better days.

Compared to the daily sacrifices made by the volunteers of the RNLI, our long weekend of driving across Northern Europe shouldn't be too tricky, but we will definitely be getting sweaty and a bit tired.

Look out for updates as we go along, and do please offer your support. Anything you can spare, will be hugely appreciated by Team EMWalhalla, the RNLI and those who they have saved from danger.

Thank you.

ps if you do donate I'd prefer you gave the money to the charity than added the recommended "17% tip" to Justgiving.
