Over 150,000 of us in the UK have MS. It’s unpredictable and different for everyone. But it doesn’t have to be this way. We’re the MS Society. We understand what life’s like with MS. We're here for you through the highs, lows and everything in between. Together, we are strong enough to stop MS.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am going to try and raise some funds to help deal with this increasingly common disease; affecting younger and… those who were younger not that long ago… 😜 people.

MS is an autoimmune disease where the body attacks itself - regularly those nerves in the brain, spine, etc.

It is a scary and incurable disease which comes on without any real/consistent warnings, takes an age to get diagnosed, and then there is little that can be done to stop attacks after diagnosis. Disease modifying therapy exists but its effectiveness is limited.

Symptoms vary between sufferers, but often includes fatigue, difficulty walking, vision problems, numbness or tingling, problems with balance and co-ordination and cognitive difficulties (e.g memory / problem solving).

The outlook for those with MS has improved massively in the recent past, with there being lots of optimism for further breakthroughs - remyelination (regrowth of protective sheath around the nerves) is very close to being cracked - helping to limit damage caused by an MS attack.

However I am not aware that identifying the cause, or a cure, is yet on the horizon.

Anything you can donate will be massively appreciated.

Thanks
