This April, I’m taking on the Brighton Marathon in support of Tommy’s, a charity dedicated to stopping the heartbreak of baby loss and making pregnancy and birth safer for everyone. Tommy’s works tirelessly to understand why babies die, to find treatments, and to support families through the most devastating moments of their lives. Every donation helps create change, find answers, and save babies’ lives.

My reason for running is personal, and it is for someone incredibly special.

On 17 July 2022, we welcomed the most beautiful little boy into the world, my nephew Remy. From the moment he arrived, he was everything my brother Matt and my sister-in-law Soph had ever dreamed of. We were all so excited to watch him grow, to bring him home, and to start a new chapter with him right at the centre of our family.

But in just a few days, everything changed.

Remy contracted a virus shortly after birth and became ill very quickly. Despite the extraordinary efforts of the team at St Mary’s Paddington, who fought tirelessly to save him, our precious boy passed away on 29 July. In less than two weeks, our world shattered.

During those heartbreaking days, the family liaison team at the hospital supported Matt and Soph with patience, empathy, and incredible kindness, something that meant more than words can ever express.

No family should ever have to experience the loss of a baby. And for those who do, they deserve care, understanding, and answers.

That’s why I’m running.

I’m running for Remy, my darling nephew who should still be here.

I’m running for Matt and Soph.

I’m running for every family who has faced the unimaginable.

And I’m running to support Tommy’s so they can continue their vital work to stop baby loss and create a safer future for families everywhere.

Remy, this one is for you.

I know you’ll be with me every step of the way.
