Autism Angels.

This place, these people, those horses, have changed our lives.

9 years ago our little man took his last breath, just as the sun was rising in the most beautiful way. It most the most peaceful, serene death possible. Which, considering the pain and chaos of his life was a miracle.

His death, combined with the chaos of Covid & a school system that really didn’t work for us, plunged us into a pretty deep dark place.

For many years we constantly felt like we were living on a knife edge, clinging on, just about surviving. We always felt like it wouldn’t take much to topple us. We weren’t really part of life - we were isolated and detached from it all. We withdrew and our life got smaller & more isolated. PTSD, depression, severe anxiety, breakdowns, job losses…

All on top of grief… it was a lot…

I’m not sure we truly believed that healing was possible before we set foot in autism angels.

Working with Sarah and the horses gave us all a glimmer of light and hope to cling on to, and gently encourages us daily to keep moving towards that light every step of our journey

It continues to take us from a place of fear to a place of love.

From surviving to living, enjoying and thriving again.

It’s Amy’s happy place. It’s where she has found her tribe. It’s where she has found happiness, hope, confidence & courage - all the good stuff that was hidden before because of all the trauma she has been through.

To celebrate all this new living, I’ve decided to throw myself out of a plane to raise some money for them, so that they are able to continue to support others who are in their deep dark places, to show families that a different way is possible and to remind them to keep walking towards the glimmers of light…

Autism Angels is a Yorkshire based charity which has been operating in our community since 2012. We provide a range of bespoke services including our NEW Alternative Wellbeing and Learning Provision, Equine Therapy and Therapeutic Coaching, supporting the needs of the whole family at our outdoor care farm.

Social, emotional, mental health and wellbeing is at the heart of our services, building a strong community around our families so they can thrive and live their best lives.

Demand for our services is increasing all the time. We never want cost to be a barrier to families seeking the help and support they need. Fundraising is essential for families so we can continue providing much needed support, maintain vital services and create a community space our families can access and be supported.
