Story

I feel honoured to have been chosen by the Matt Hampson foundation in the running of the London Marathon in 2027.

Rugby has been a massive part of our lives for many years and we love watching our son Jack play for Exeter Saracens, where he is now club captain. Through rugby is where I came across and heard about Matt Hampson. An extremely talented young rugby player whose life would change in 2005.

Injuries in rugby and sport can occur when you least expect them, and they can of course be very serious in nature, such as Matt’s was in 2005. This gave him the motivation to start the Matt Hampson Foundation. The importance and role of the foundation is extraordinary. The opportunity it can give to the beneficiaries can be life changing in an extremely positive way. My uncle was paralysed after a motor bike accident when he was 20, I have experienced first hand the impact this can have and helps me recognise the importance of the Matt Hampson Foundation. There moto says it all, Get Busy Living.

I would love your support on my journey in supporting this wonderful foundation where every pound can make a difference.

The Get Busy Living Centre provides expert physiotherapy, specialist personal training, support, mentoring and advice to people suffering a life-changing injury through sport. It's a unique facility which opened its doors in 2018 and is the brainchild of founder and former England and Leicester Tigers rugby player Matt Hampson, who himself experienced a life-changing injury in 2005 leaving him paralysed from the neck down, aged just 20.

Building a sense of community is central to the Matt Hampson Foundation. As part of this community, beneficiaries are able to draw on the experience and knowledge of others who have been on a similar journey as they develop the tools and skills they need to ‘get busy living’ again - a key motto of the foundation!
