Story
Thanks for visiting my JustGiving page.
The Footprints Foundation (https://www.footprints.org.uk/) supports a team of three Zambians plus local volunteers who do fantastic work with the street children of Lusaka, encouraging them to accept help to come off the streets as well as dealing with immediate crises.
Footprints also supports schools in the 'compounds' (shanty towns) on the outskirts of the city, including in particular the Eneless Patmos Community School. I have visited this school several times in July 2024, August 2025 and April 2026 (see photo above); the children always give me a wonderful welcome, singing and dancing with great energy, enthusiasm and joy. The teachers provide a progressive primary education but also love, support and encouragement to their children, all of whom are very vulnerable, at risk of abuse and coming from homes of extreme poverty. The current school consists of a nursery, one classroom, a small office, a storeroom and two very basic toilets - and no electricity or water supply - for nearly 400 children.
I am thrilled to be able to support plans to buy land and start building a new school. Every penny collected through this JustGiving page will go to the Footprints Foundation to pass on to the account for the New Patmos School Project. The Committee overseeing the project is charged with monitoring in detail and regularly reporting on the spending of this money. In particular, the funds raised by this page will go towards the land purchase and initial site work necessary before the main development can begin. A potential site had been identified and the solicitors were instructed to carry out searches but the owner decided to sell to someone else. Another possible site has now been found (June 2026) and it is being investigated in detail. Once there is land owned by the school, we will be able to apply to charities and trust funds for the main project.
